Kharge pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

Winning the in-house Congress elections by a huge majority, Mallikarjun Kharge is all set to take over as the party chief today. Kharge took 90% of the votes cast by the Congress members.

80-years-old Kharge has been a Gandhi family loyalist. He is a sober person and in his long career has never been involved in any controversy or political trouble. He has held multiple roles in different ministries.

Now, as the party chief of Congress, he has a daunting task ahead of him. He has to streamline the party and also improve the image of the party. His position as the party chief is also seen as a strong political move before the Karnataka Assembly elections dur in May 2023.

Before assuming his office, Kharge went to Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Kharge is the first non-Gandhi to hold the party chief post.

In a function to be held in New Delhi, Sonia Gandhi will give the certificate of election to Kharge and the function will also be attended by Rahul Gandhi.
