VVIP Encroachers to Go?

Bengaluru Flood

Wipro, Eco Space, Columbia Asia Hospital, Bagmane Tech Park, Diyashree Villas and a number of other VVIP encroachers have been served with eviction notices by the Bruhat Mahanagar Palika (BBMP).

These VVIP encroachers are sitting in land that has around 700 storm water drains and have choked the flow of rainwater. This in turn leads to flooding in the area. There was much damaged caused by the floods in Bengaluru last week.

The Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai says that all this illegal construction will be demolished in the very near time and it would not matter as to who the owners are, whether they are common people or tech companies or businesses.

In Mahadevpura, the number of encroachments is around 175 of the total around 696.

The main problem now for the BBMP is to demolish a residential apartment. This apartment has been served by an eviction notice but the owners of the Mahaveer Regal Apartments have not responded yet. This building too is interrupting the flow of water into the storm drains.

Meanwhile after the loss to property and life, the BBMP has already started the anti-encroachment drive by rolling in bulldozers in the Mahadevpura zone of Bengaluru.
