Mallikarjun Kharge Denies Meeting Sonia Gandhi

Mallikarjun Kharge

There is currently no official candidate for the position of party leader, according to senior Congressman Mallikarjun Kharge, who is vying to succeed the current party head.

Kharge responded that it is an impression manufactured by the media when asked if he was the unofficial official choice of the high command and the Gandhis.

80-year-old politician Kharge, who has more than 50 years of political experience, has steadily advanced in his career from his early days as a union leader in his native Kalaburagi area of Gulbarga. Shashi Tharoor, a veteran politician, will face off against Kharge for the position of party leader.

Kharge, a devoted Congressman who is a Gandhi family supporter, has held a variety of positions in several ministries that have extended his administrative skills. Since his selection, there have been concerns over whether he will be the party’s “remote-controlled” leader and whether the Gandhi family will continue to make the choices.
