Farmers Marching for Kisan Mahapanchayat Detained

Kisan Mahapanchayat

In the midst of a demonstration against unemployment, Delhi Police apprehended farmers in Ghazipur on the border between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

A demonstration against unemployment has been called for today at the Jantar Mantar by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM).

Prior to the “mahapanchayat” called by the farmers’ organisation, security has been stepped up at the Delhi borders, notably Singhu and Ghazipur. Due to increased security at the border entry point into Delhi, traffic flow at the Noida-Delhi Chilla border is slow.

In the nation’s capital, Section 144 is in effect, and the authorities have not provided authorization for the protest. Amidst tight police and security presence, farmers have started to arrive at Jantar Mantar to hold a protest. Due to the barricading and strict security, traffic movement may be hampered in various areas of Delhi.
