Meaning of Shawwal

As per the Islamic calendar, Shawwal is the 10th month and is followed by the Ramadan. Eid-al-fitr also signifies the end of the Ramadan and beginning of the Shawwal month. The first day of the Shawwal month is celebrated as Eid al-Fitr. This is the day when all the Muslims gather with their friends and family and worship, exchange gifts, enjoy delicacies, and spend some good time with each other.

Muslims can also perform voluntary fasts called “Six days of Shawwal” during the Shawwal. These fast are not a must to do but as per Islam you get extra reward form the Allah if you keep these fasts.
