Ferozepur SSP Suspended Over Security Lapse for PM’s Visit to Punjab

Narendra Modi Visi To Punjab2

Headed by retired top court judge, Justice Indu Malhotra, a five-member committee filed a report which was read by Supreme Court. The report alleges that the SSP of Ferozepur was not able to perform the said duties during Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab in January.

Before the visit of the Prime Minister, the route which he was to take was disclosed which should not have happened. Further, even though there was enough police force, they did not stop the public from using the route- a big security lapse.

On his visit, Prime Minister’s car and his entire cascade was stuck on a flyover because of the protest by the farmers and even private cars were plying on the flyover. The PM had to go to Bathinda airport because of this.

A written report has been sent to the government by the Supreme Court so that steps can be taken to strengthen the security of the Prime Minister.

In a report sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs by Punjab, the Bathinda SSP has blamed his Ferozepur counterpart for the lapse. Nine officers have been transferred in the security breach row till now and now its up to the top guns to shift place.
