Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 12 in match 6 of Tata IPL 2023.

Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and elected to bowl first. CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway got to a flying start in the powerplay.

Both the openers took the attack to LSG bowlers making their intentions clear. Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed 3 sixes of Krishnappa Gowtham in the 5th over.

Mark Wood after magnificent bowling against Delhi was treated with disdain by the CSK openers as they smashed 19 runs to cap off the powerplay. CSK were 79/0 at the end of the powerplay.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was hitting sixes for fun at Chepauk. The right-hander raced to his 2nd fifty of the season in just 25 balls. Devon Conway on the other end smashed Krunal Pandya for two sixes in the 8th over.

Ravi Bishnoi Turns the Game around with his spell

CSK were on course for a huge score as both the openers were going great guns. Ravi Bishnoi on his first ball of the match dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad for 57 runs courtesy of Mark Wood’s diving catch at short third man.

Mark Wood then peppered Devon Conway with a short one as Conway mistimes the pull for a deep square leg and Krunal Pandya takes a running diving catch.

Shivam Dube after a bad game against GT came out all guns blazing. He scored 27 runs in 16 balls smashing 3 sixes and a four. Moeen Ali scored 19 runs in 13 balls. Both Dube and Moeen Ali were dismissed by Bishnoi as he ended with figures of 3/28.

Rayudu & Dhoni Power CSK past 200

CSK was pegged by a flurry of wickets in the middle overs. Ambati Rayudu played a blinder of a cameo scoring 27 runs in 14 balls smashing 2 sixes and 2 fours. MS Dhoni walked out to bat as the crowd went electric at Chepauk.

Dhoni smashed Two consecutive sixes in the final over against Mark Wood as Chennai ended at 217/7 in 20 overs.

Kyle Mayers Wrecks Havoc at Chepauk

Chasing a massive target of 218, LSG openers were off to a great start. Kyle Mayers smashed CSK bowlers with disdain, while KL Rahul took his time to settle.

Mayers smashed 15 runs in the 2nd over and followed it up with a trio of boundaries in the 3rd over. Mayers brought up the 2nd fifty of the season in 21 balls.

Moeen Ali Shines with the ball

After a fiery start from LSG openers, CSK were in trouble. Moeen Ali dismissed Kyle Mayers for 52 providing the much-needed breakthrough for the Kings.

Mitchell Santner got rid of Deepak Hooda. KL Rahul fell to Moeen Ali, holding out to Ruturaj Gaikwad at Mid-wicket.

LSG lost three quick wickets for 5 runs. The Giants lost their momentum after the powerplay.

Marcus Stoinis and Krunal Pandya tried to solidify and rebuild the innings by Smashing three sixes. Moeen Ali was up to the challenge as he dismissed both Stoinis and Krunal Pandya. Moeen Ali ends with figures of 4/26.

CSK hold their nerve to clinch the victory

LSG lost their way in the middle overs after a good start in the powerplay. Nicholas Pooran teed off early in his innings, smashing youngster Hangargekar for 15 runs in the 12th over. Pooran then took on Ravindra Jadeja Smashing two sixes. Pooran kept LSG in the game before he finally perished for 32 runs in the 16th over.

Krishnappa Gowtham and Ayush Badoni failed to keep up with the required run rate as they handed CSK 12 run victory.

Moeen Ali was awarded player of the match for his match-winning bowling figures of 4/28 and 13 runs.
