The business magnate, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, who has made billions by trading in the stock market passed away at the age of 62 on Sunday morning.
The billionaire was suffering from kidney ailments and had been discharged from the hospital about three weeks back. He was brought dead to the Beach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was born into a middle-class family and gained an interest in stock market by listening to his father talk about it. He entered stock market with just Rs. 5000 when he was in college. Today, his net worth is estimated to be around 5.5 billion dollars.
He was always a risk taker in the stock market and invested in many businesses in different industries. His latest interest was in the aviation industry wherein he started the Akasa Air.
He was also an advisor to India’s International Movement to United Nations. He was also a philanthropist and was known to give away 25% of his earnings to charity. In addition, he also partnered with a hospital that offers free eyecare and surgeries to patients.
His death is condoled by the Prime Minister as well as the Minister of Commerce and Industry.
