The prestigious “National CSR Award” under large enterprises food and beverage sector was bestowed upon Bisleri International Pvt Ltd at the 10th Global Safety Summit Awards 2022 in New Delhi. The function was organised by the Fire and Safety Forum in association with United Nations Global Compact Network India and praised the Bisleri International’s effort in recycling used plastic and harvesting rainwater.
Mr Angela George, the Chief Executive Officer of Bisleri International Pvt Ltd said that the organisation was honoured with the award as it recognised their efforts in contributing to the environment conservation and preservation. He also said that their company was proud of the fact that it collected and recycled more plastic than it introduced in the market.
Through their program- Bottles for Change, Bisleri International wants to educate and bring awareness in the people across schools, housing societies, slums, corporates and emphasises that a 3-phase process needs to be adopted for cleaning plastic, recycling it and handing it over directly for recycling and preventing used plastic for ending in landfills.
The company has modified the behaviour of over 60,000 citizens in the metros as its efforts have collected over 6500 tons of used plastic.
Bisleri also runs Project Nayi Umeed through which it wants to inculcate the habit of giving back to society. This project focuses on water conservation by building and restoring check-dams, as it was developed to create reservoirs of water that help to improve the water table in areas nearby.
This project has helped irrigate villages in Gujarat and Maharashtra and has benefitted many farmers helping them to boost their income.
Bisleri has installed rainwater harvesting systems in all its manufacturing units whereby it is able to replenish 1.08 litres of water for every litre of water drawn from the ground, The company has 133 operational plants and a healthy distribution network of 4000 distributors and 5000 distribution trucks across India and neighbouring countries.
